About

Prior to joining NYA as the Director of Research and Development, Dr. Restrepo served as a Professor in the Department of Structural Engineering at UC San Diego.

Dr. Restrepo was the Principal Investigator for the Design and Construction of the NSF-funded Large High-Performance Shake Table (LHPOST), the world’s largest by various metrics.

He has also participated in the write up of PBSD guidelines and standards for Bridges (AASHTO) and Container Wharves (ASCE-COPRI) and has taught a PBSD graduate course (PEER TBI & LATBSDC) for the past twenty-two years.

Dr. Restrepo has been the recipient of the ACI Chester Paul Siess Award, PCI Charles C. Zollman and Martin Korn Awards, FHWA James Cooper Award, and the ASCE Charles Pankow and Alfred Noble Awards for his research.
