Project Description /OverviewNYA provided structural engineering services for the second phase of UC San Diego's student housing project. This project included a 12-story residential tower, four 5 story sustainable apartment buildings, two 2-story steel retail buildings, a market, and a cafe. UCSD Village II provides on-campus accommodations for 807 students in five and six bedroom apartment-style dwellings, which includes laundry services, student conference areas, faculty offices, a student market, and dining area. All buildings are connected by a common pedestrian walkway called The Strand. Some green features of the campus include solar panels on the roof, natural ventilation, and a 300-kilowatt thermal solar system that heat the residents water.
